From start-up to industry leader
But let’s rewind for a moment: MEDIAFIX was founded in Cologne in 2012. Thanks to our own in-house technology and competitive prices, the very first financial year was an immediate success. After just one year we had already digitised over 2 million media items. From then on, things only went upwards for MEDIAFIX.
Since 2018 we have been Germany’s market leader in the digitisation of analogue photos and videos. What began as a small start-up with just a handful of employees has grown into a thriving medium-sized company. We now employ around 110 staff and have digitised more than 237 million media items.
Since 2019 MEDIAFIX has been working on international success. We first expanded into Austria, then Switzerland, and have now entered the Benelux countries, our first markets outside the DACH region. And our international journey is only just beginning.
Market leadership in numbers
MEDIAFIX is now active in six countries and at 51 drop-off locations. Slowly but surely, with our attractive offering we are conquering the European continent. A detailed market analysis now shows that we can already call ourselves the European market leader.
Together with the management consultancy OSCAR, we have taken a close look at the European competition. Eighty-three providers with a total of 548 services across Europe were examined. The usual variables number of employees, rental space, turnover and prices were compared. The outcome was clear: only a handful of companies can truly compete with us.

- operate a production facility of approximately 2,500 square metres, and
- achieved a turnover of about 9 million euros in the 2020/2021 financial year.
No other European company that digitises analogue photos and films comes close to these figures. In addition, we clearly undercut the competition’s prices.
