Scan photo albums before it's too late

Photo albums are a lovely way to tell stories, bring back the good old days, and share memories with others. All too often these precious records are forgotten about, stored away in cabinets to keep all those memories for themselves.

But these cherished memories are in danger:

The photos in your albums won’t last forever. All analogue media has a lifespan, and photo paper from the 80s and 90s is particularly poor quality.
Tears, scratches, finger prints: Over the years photos start to collect finger prints, get torn, or the glue starts to weaken, so you can’t enjoy your memories as you once did.
Faded colours are another consequence of time’s inevitable flow, urging you to digitise your photo albums before the quality degrades even further.
Colour casts are also a sign of decay, but they can be fixed. The sooner you scan your photos, the better.

Don’t wait any longer! Scan photo albums now with MEDIAFIX. Our customer service will help you at every step.

Digitise your photo albums and relive them

Bring your memories back to life with digitised photo albums. All those wonderful moments can be easily viewed together with loved ones on your PC, TV or tablet and sent around the world with a single click.

Advantages of photo album scanning

Save memories. Your old photos capture cherished memories that must be preserved! You’ll never regret digitising them for posterity.
Edit shots. Sometimes it’s tiny details that ruin a great picture, like red eyes on happy faces. These things can be easily fixed in a digital image.
Share. A digital file is much easier to share than a physical print. Once your album is digitised, you can share your beautiful memories with anyone with a single click.
View on your phone, PC, TV, or projector. Photo albums have their own charm, but digitising your photos opens up completely new ways to enjoy them.
Wall prints and other decorations. From a small photo to a large-scale piece on the wall — print your favourite shots on canvas, T-shirts or mugs as a gift for yourself and loved ones!

FAQ for scanning photo albums to digital

How much does it cost to scan photo albums with MEDIAFIX?

MEDIAFIX digitises your photo albums starting at 35p per photo or 65p per whole page. With our best price guarantee we promise that you’ll always get the lowest price for your desired resolution and quantity.

How can I send my photo albums?

You can send your photo albums by post to the following address:

MEDIAFIX Logistics Centre
Precision Imaging (Unit 2)
Clonmel Road Business Park
Stirchley
B30 2BU

Will I get my photo albums back?

Yes, of course, we’ll return your photo albums together with your digital images.

What about the labels of my album photos? Will they be included?

If you choose to scan whole pages, any labels, captions or notes will also be included. If you want to scan single photos from the album, you can choose to scan the labels too.

The pages in my albums are separated by thin sheets. Will that cause problems when scanning?

No, no problems at all.

Should I scan whole pages or single photos?

Both options have their advantages:

Scanning whole pages means you’ll receive one image file for each page, with the advantage that the layout remains the same as in the album and any notes are included too.
If you want to scan each photo individually, the digitised images will have a higher resolution.

Will the photos be removed from the album during the scan?

No, everything will stay in place.

The colours of my photos have shifted. Can you fix this?

Yes, we can offer the additional service of correcting any colour casts and contrast. You’ll get back the corrected images as well as the original scans, so you can compare.

How does scanning photo albums with MEDIAFIX work?

Digitising photo albums with MEDIAFIX is easy. Just call us or start a request with the contact form. Don’t forget to add the signed order form to your package.

IMPORTANT: Without the signed order form we can’t process your order! You can send us your package by post. When your order is finished, we will of course return your photo albums.

Isn't it easier to scan my photo albums myself?

A good scanner for photos and negatives is expensive (starting at £500), so it’s only worth it if you want to digitise a very large amount of photos. Meanwhile, cheaper scanning devices often have low resolutions, resulting in poor quality scans.

In addition, scanning photos one at a time is very time consuming, and cleaning to a high standard is quite difficult. You may have to repeat scans several times because the scanned image is not straight or shows dust. Meanwhile, operating the scanner itself can be complicated. That’s why it’s not as easy as you might think to digitise photo albums on your own.
